Notes & News:
NOTICES:

  • Here’s a friendly reminder from your Town of Pinedale Department of Public Works .  To prevent your water or sewer lines from freezing up it is essential that Pinedale residents remember to turn their water bleeders on. The water stream needs to be about the diameter of a pencil in width to be effective.  There have been a number of water lines freezing up so remember, to prevent this problem, please have your water bleeders on until frozen ground conditions are gone from our area.  Pinedale’s Public Works Department thanks everyone for their cooperation.

We are in the heart of the Upper Green River Valley, surrounded by three mountain ranges, which include two designated wilderness areas. Approximately 80% of the county is public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and US Forest Service. Pinedale proper sits at 7,100 feet elevation and has a population of about 1600. We are a relaxed, rural community which serves as the recreational gateway to the Wind River Mountain Range and Bridger Wilderness area. We also are at the northern edge of one of the largest natural gas producing fields in Wyoming.

Pinedale is the county seat for Sublette County. The courthouse is located in the center of town. We have a town hall, medical clinic, county library, two weekly newspapers, a retirement center, a senior citizen's center, a recycling center, and two town parks. There is one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. Recreational facilities include a 9-hole golf course, indoor public pool, public ice skating rink, skateboard park, tennis courts, downhill and cross-country ski facilities and paved walking paths. Our airport is a general aviation airport located approximately four miles south of Pinedale. The nearest commercial airport is 78 miles to the north in Jackson and interstate highway is 100 miles to the south in Rock Springs.

We have one 'main street' through town called Pine Street, which is also Highway 191, which connects Rock Springs to Jackson Hole. The majority of the businesses are located along this street or within the first block of it. Pine Creek flows through the middle of town, originating from Fremont Lake, the town's water supply, four miles to the northeast.

Government offices include the Pinedale Post Office, the US Forest Service Bridger-Teton National Forest Pinedale Ranger District office, the Pinedale office of the Bureau of Land Management, a Wyoming Game & Fish office, the Sublette County Sheriff's office, Wyoming Highway Department, and the Natural Resource Conservation Service office (NRCS).

The Town of Pinedale owns the general aviation airport located on US. Hwy 191, approximately five miles south of Pinedale and six miles north of Boulder. Ralph Wenz Field has an asphalt surface runway 7100' x 100', with NDB approach, and AWOSIII-P/T weather station. Elevation is 7080'. This field is suitable for larger corporate jets. Services include fuel, line service, aircraft maintenance, repair and inspection, transient hangar space, crew car, flight instruction, 24-hour availability.

The state of Wyoming has a 4% sales tax and we have an additional countywide 3% lodging tax. There are no business licenses required in Pinedale. Area visitor information is available from the county tourism website, supported by a county-wide lodging tax: Visit Sublette County, 1-888-285-7282, info@mountainmancountry.com
